The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.

It might not have been at the identical stature as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the mayor of Miami-Dade experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,” stated the mayor in a speech with obvious nods to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued since the commencement of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence without fear.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to emulate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The swine, provided by a first responder, was given its name from the popular vernacular phrase of young people exclaiming “six seven” – deriving from a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The craze became so widespread that a major dictionary recently declared “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A New Life

The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a farm sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the holiday season,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the character of Miami: joyful, multicultural, and based in heritage that unite the community. Each year, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of croquettes and strong coffee as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
