The former president's Family Member Gets Expert Guidance from Tiger Woods Prior to LPGA First Appearance
This young athlete has substantial social media audience
Kai Trump will have plenty of prominent supporters when she makes her first LPGA appearance this Thursday.
This teenage golfer, who is connected to a former US president, obtained a special exemption to play at the Annika tournament in the Sunshine State.
Her grandfather, an avid golfer, owns numerous golf courses and regularly competes against his granddaughter.
"He's pretty good. I can't say much but we play some close matches," she mentioned.
The golfer shared that her grandfather, who won't be present, advised her: "Just stay calm."
"He practically told me to play and relax," she continued.
"To me, he's just a regular grandfather. He can't make it for the tournament. He's occupied with presidential duties, so he's quite busy."
While still amateur, Kai has competed in only three events this year and holds the 461st position in the American Junior Golf Association listings.
However she can get advice from 15-time major champion, who is dating her mother.
"He represents the best player globally," the young golfer said.
"Additionally, he's a more impressive individual. He advised me to play, relax, and go with whatever happens."
The golfer will compete against several top competitors in women's golf at the Annika, including world number two the champion, British Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson and last year's winner Lilia Vu.
Tournament organizers mentioned that Kai's presence exposes golf to new audiences, especially among youth audiences.
Kai maintains substantial online presence and recently launched a personal clothing and lifestyle brand.
She begins at 17:30 GMT.
