It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if never given the chance.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this knock came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," said Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and after that the batsman was in motion.

"An opportunity to go out there and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was removed her side required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph succeeding win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So great is her will, she later said she wished she had played through the pain.

But while she later admitted those injuries have delayed thoughts of retirement, this championship is likely to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
