President Trump Invites Relatives of Attacked Guard Personnel to White House

Former President Trump stated on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member killed last week to come to the White House.

He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Event

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their memory.

Presidential Invitation

The president said he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump told journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Support

Community members gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“She was the individual that instructors desired. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her former high school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always ready to support those in need.”

Service details for Sarah are still being arranged.

Judicial Actions and Government Changes

Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while armed.

The incident led the administration to pause asylum processing and cease issuing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader the governor mentioned on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on a news show that she also intended to meet with the family.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with distinction, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey told the audience at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
