Patriots Equal Best Winning Streak Since Brady Years with Triumph Against New York Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has scored five touchdowns during the current campaign
The New England Patriots equaled their top unbeaten stretch from the Brady period as they beat division rivals the Jets by 13 points in the NFL
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three TDs as the New England squad claimed an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since iconic QB Tom Brady's final season with the team in the 2019 season
Signal-caller Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a score, completing 25 passes from 34 throws
Victory increases the New England's advantage at the top of the AFC East as they improved to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets bottom after slipping to a 2-8 mark
The opposing team had taken the lead at Gillette Stadium with QB Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to cap the Jets' first possession
But the home team answered in the second period as Henderson scored two short rushing scores before the running back grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone in the middle of the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7
"That was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He desires to be excellent."
Fields connected with Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to close the gap for the Jets but Borregales booted a pair of field goals in the final period as the home side sealed the win
