I'll overwhelm 'legitimate boxer' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua
Anthony Joshua is set to fight Jake Paul in an eight-round contest which will be shown live on the streaming platform.
Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "defeat" the American as the two fighters confronted each other to build hype for next month's boxing match.
Ex two time unified boxing king Anthony Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth disparity - at Miami arena on 19 December.
Boxer's Mentality
"I'm going to damage his features and break his body up. I'm here to prove I'm superior," Joshua, 35, said.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I will really want to hurt him. That's what I want to do."
Civil Interaction
Despite those words, a calm Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - typically famous for his theatrics - exchanged pleasantries and remained civil with each other.
Jake Paul instead attacked former Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and described him as "a joke" after the Cameroonian declined a match opportunity.
Taking Aim at Fury
Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, targeted British opponent Fury - and refused a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul victory.
"[Paul] is better than Fury - he's present here," Joshua commented.
"I respect him for that."
Serious Opponent
In spite of stating he plans to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua chose not to talk badly about his opponent's fighting skills.
"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he remarked.
Jake Paul's History
Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has mainly fought MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since turning professional.
He lost to British fighter Fury in 2023.
Commercial Success
Still, the novice remains one of the sport's biggest money-making draws, consistently making huge financial rewards.
Prediction and Belief
The 28 year old forecast a knockout win in rounds four or five and claimed he would derail the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is allegedly being planned for two years from now.
"It will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Paul declared.
Size Disparity
As Joshua and Paul engaged in the traditional stare-down, with their physical disparity evident, it emphasized just how surprising this whole event is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is really proceeding.
