In a unexpected crossover event that breaks usual forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Adventure Disclosed

According to the official announcement, "A strange encounter draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where hints of banned ceremonies and terrifying metamorphoses reverberate through the darkness." The plot introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a clandestine cult.

The questline concentrates on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Changes

The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Prizes and Bonus Content

Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an exclusive katana in addition to several items concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-based costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons
• Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Addition

This release also introduces the game's latest complimentary story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Previous Anime Crossovers

This signifies not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime properties. The series earlier included a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally included a quest that obviously echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
